| On June 5, 2003 (the World Environment
Day) 12 winners of this year's Auckland Regional Council's
Environmental Awards (E Awards) were announced in the
Council Chamber. The Awards recognise outstanding contributions
to sustaining, protecting and enhancing New Zealand’s
environment. The Chinese Conservation
Education Trust (CCET) won the Special Award for its
successful model of working with the Department of Conservation
to show, rather than tell, the communities new to the
concept of conservation why places such as the Hauraki
Gulf are special and worth preserving. |
