On June 5, 2003 (the World Environment Day) 8 winners of this year's Ministry for Environment's Green Ribbon Award were announced at the Parliament. The Award recognises outstanding contributions to sustaining, protecting and enhancing New Zealand’s environment.

The Chinese Conservation Education Trust (CCET) won the Award for the Category of Raising Awareness of Environmental Issues, for its efforts of spreading the concept of conservation to the Chinese community in New Zealand through various activities, as well as Chinese radio, newspaper, newsletter and website.
