3rd Birthday Celebration and Launch of the Waste Reduction Campaign

The giant squid talk by Dr. Steve O'Shea began the day's event in Auckland Zoo to celebrate CCET's 3rd birthday anniversary. Dr. O'Shea not only shared with us the interesting facts on his research on giant squid, he also emphasised how vulnerable the ocean and the marine lives are. This had led us to a deeper thought on our daily behaviour.

The launch of the 1-year waste reduction campaign was the result of the trustees and volunteers hard work in the past few months. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the trust and Auckland City Council, Manukau City Council, North Shore City Council, Waitakere City Council, Papakura District Council, Rodney City Council and Auckland Regional Council. It was a co-operation with the councils and Department of Conservation to promote the environmental awareness and practical waste reduction knowledge to the Chinese community.

After lunch, participants enjoyed a walk around in the zoo and meet with some of New Zealand's native animals through their Native Encounter.
