Walk and Talk

This was another activity that the trust co-operated with Waitakere City Council (WCC) to promote conservation messages to the west. 100 people gathered together at Kelston Community Centre for a talk on CCET , the Twin Stream Project and the beautiful walks in the city. Water care, CITES and green network displays were put up to draw people s attention.

After morning tea, all participants were guided along the Opanuku Walk in Henderson. Thanks to the Waitakere City Council erecting signs explaining the natural environment all along walk. WCC staff gave talk on native and introduced plants and weeds while the Wai Care group showed us the various small water creatures which are important in the ecosystem.

Just like in other CCET events, the participants all learned more about conservation and had a wonderful time

Waste Reduction Campaign

In May of this year, there will be a big project launched by CCET. It is called Waste Reduction Campaign and its coverage will include all areas of Greater Auckland. The project runs in partnership with Department of Conservation, Auckland City Council, Manukau City Council, North Shore City Council, Waitakere City Council, Papakura District Council, Rodney City Council and Auckland Regional City Council.

The 1-year project will consist of 4 stages. The main theme of this project is to promote a high degree of environmental awareness and practical waste reduction knowledge to our Chinese community. This will be achieved by a series of media promotion and education, for example, radio and TV broadcasting and newspaper promotion. Quiz games are also included. Some activities and programmes relating to our life, such as domestic composting, visits to landfill site, sewage treatment plant and government education resource centre will be conducted to enrich the whole project as well.

Your support to us is important to us. If you would like to know more about this campaign or wish to become a member of our volunteer team, we are happy to talk with you.
