Motuihe Island Tree Planting Day

Motuihe Island is just 16 km from Auckland. It is a stunning small island with beautiful beaches all around. 60 CCET members joined the volunteer work on 10 August was the biggest group of Chinese that ever visited the island.

On the day, our members helped to plant trees and transplant the seedlings. We found that the seedling needs 3-5 years special care to grow into a small tree. Next time when you help in any tree plantings, make sure that you plant the young trees properly so that they can grow up. After lunch John Lawrence (Chairperson of the Motuihe Trust) led us to pick the seeds of Taraire and scatter onto the other side of the valley. He told us that the seeds will germinate and grow into a new tree. This was a new experience to our members.

A donation of $223 has been made by the members to the Motuihe Trust. Thank you to the members’ generosity.
