| On 13 July, a bus load of
CCET members went to the Woodhill Forest Education Centre
and had a fantastic day. Although the weather was unsteady,
we were lucky that the rain stopped when we went out to
the forest.
The staff began the day by giving us a powerpoint presentation
on the growth cycle of the pine forest and how the trees
were planted as a barrier to stop the sand from going
further onto the mainland. From the talk we understand
that our native bushes provide home and food for our
precious birds and insects while the plantation contributes
to the economy of the country. Surprising this plantation
forest also provide recreation facilities. We can go
hunting, cycling, 4-wheel drive and horse riding. Thanks
our volunteer, Kenneth Tse, who did the interpretation
for us.
On the way back, we also visited the Mac-Nut Farm where
our members had a walk through the macadamia trees and
tried the delicious fresh nuts.
